Scrabble for Kindle Fire Introduces Single Player Mode
I love Scrabble, but I couldn't in good faith even mention it on this blog as long as it didn't have a single-player mode. A big part of the appeal for playing this game on the Fire is that you can take it anywhere, and that may mean there aren't other people around to play with. Fortunately, a new update on the app yesterday added single-player mode, thereby quelling the complains of virtually all of the 1-star reviews. So if you were on the fence about getting the app, or you did get it but were disappointed, this is certainly a welcome development. Edit: If you do have the game already, it may not update automatically. Manually checking for updates will get you the new option.

Top Apps of the Week
It's been a banner week for apps with all of the 10 cent deals. Let's see which ones we've seen on the site this week were the most popular according to you, the esteemed readers of the Kindle Fire Department.

It's hard to even mention Splashtop without it getting a great reaction from people. The ability to sync your Fire with your PC is an incredible resource, saving you so much space for things like music, movies, and TV that you'd have to pack into your Fire's 8GB of storage space. The 80% off discount makes this the perfect time to add it to your app collection.
We did get one question earlier in the week about security for this app. If someone stole your Fire, could they then access your computer? The answer was no, as long as you kept the option to require a password. Nothing to worry about here, except for what you're going to watch next!

Even after coming off of its discounted price, this useful, effective app has continued to make a strong showing. Between the options and the great user-interface, this is THE app to have if you're working with PDF's. It's still a great bargain and essential for more practical uses for the Fire.
