The plot is a bit more complicated and while the romance doesn't take center stage here, it certainly is developing in this book.

In this book -- the first in the series -- we meet Liam Synar on the day of his wedding, or mating as it's called in the book, to Pleiadian ambassador Ania Looren. But as soon as the mating has occurred, assassins arrive to cause chaos. Ania is mortally wounded which is when we find out a huge secret about Liam -- he is a demon master. In a moment of great love, he commands the demon into Ania to save her life. And then promptly leaves her for the next two years for reasons that we find in the book. And the caca hits the fan from there."
